Update

Marking 6 Months Since the Fire

Six months ago today, the Palisades Fire tore through our beloved community, changing our landscape forever. And yet, it didn’t destroy what makes us whole—our community spirit. As Jimmy Dunne writes,

“The smoke’s cleared, but the goodness it stirred up—well, that’s still hangin’ in the trees.”

And I was thinking about how, in the strangest way, these days have made many of our bonds even closer.

“We used to wave to our neighbors.  Now we know their dogs, their birthdays, and the color of their heartbreak.”

PRC Founder, Maryam Zar: We all feel the loss deeply, but it’s that very depth that fuels our resolve. Together, we’ve stood up new institutions, rallied neighbors, and taken our first collective steps toward rebuilding—not just our homes, but the soul of Pacific Palisades. As Jimmy Says: “We’re not just getting back to normal; we’re building something better–one kind deed at a time.”

Let’s honor how far we’ve come, and recommit to building a safer, stronger, more resilient Palisades.

🏛️ Legislation & Local Governance

There’s growing debate over SB 549, which would create a Resilient Rebuilding Authority for our region. PRC has raised concerns over the lack of required community governance and input.

🚧 Infrastructure & Trailhead Safety

PRC met with State officials and State Parks this week to address trailhead congestion and construction-related access risks. We requested immediate parking enforcement and clearer signage across these popular but fragile areas.

🚨 Spotlight: Paseo Miramar Corridor

A recent survey revealed:

  • Fragmented parking rules with missing signage
  • No restroom/trash facilities despite heavy use
  • 30 rebuilds underway on a narrow, substandard road
  • Lack of enforcement despite posted restrictions

Similar risks exist at Temescal, El Medio, Chautauqua, Will Rogers, Trailer Canyon, and more.
📹 A neighbor-created video titled “One Way Out” underscored the danger.
