The establishment of a centralized Public Space Compound on city-owned properties will provide critical support services for both the workforce and residents. This hub will include:
- Central Recovery Hub: Establish a civic center for permitting, inspections, “Ask an Architect” sessions, and real-time support from city departments.
- Builder & Trade Services Hall: A collaborative workspace for contractors, engineers, and homeowners to streamline planning.
- Food & Community Services: Partner with local food trucks and vendors to serve workers and residents in commercial or staging hubs.
- Wi-Fi-Enabled Resource Centers: Pop-up coworking and meeting spaces with internet access, printers, and resources for displaced residents.
- Flexible Public Use: Repurpose mobile home parks, public parking areas, and school campuses during summer months for community rebuilding services.
- Steward Fund Establishment: In partnership with neighborhoods across the Palisades that host meaningful natural resources, historic parks, or precious open space, establish a fund that allows a Palisades Recovery Authority to protect and preserve these areas.
