Community Progress & Upcoming Initiatives As our town moves further into the recovery journey, the PRC continues to bring residents, partners, and agencies together to ensure momentum is not lost. From advancing resilience planning to security strategy to launching creative spaces for healing, our work is centered on rebuilding Pacific Palisades with strength, foresight, and community spirit.
🌳 Community Recovery Update🛡️  Community Advisory Board Calls We’ve held two Community Advisory Board meetings since our last update and made strong progress in identifying future needs as LAPD reassesses its contracts with private security agencies. This transition provides the community with an important opportunity to develop a clear, coordinated plan to supplement LAPD’s coverage, should gaps arise during recovery. Our group has begun evaluating the services of the three private security firms currently engaged by LAPD while also exploring what additional providers may offer our neighborhoods. This is an all-hands-on-deck effort, working alongside partner organizations to draft a robust community security plan. Our next meeting is scheduled for the coming week.As always, Col. Palazzini joined us with and update from US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). In our most recent call, he reported that Temescal Canyon Road has been repaired and formally returned to the City, and is now open to all traffic. USACE has only a handful of properties left to clear—including several abatement sites—and will soon be announcing their departure. (See attached report.)
🏠Insurance Roundtable with State Senator AllenWe are partnering with Senator Allen’s office to host an Insurance Roundtable—bringing the California Insurance Commissioner’s office, the FAIR Plan, and leading private insurers to the table. This is a critical step in ensuring Pacific Palisades remains insurable as we recover and rebuild. The discussion will focus on what resilience features, building techniques, and potential certifications the insurance industry will expect to see in our homes and community moving forward. Our goal is to make sure that as we rebuild stronger, safer, and smarter, homeowners can secure the coverage they need and deserve.Â
🌿 Next Visioning Charrette: Community Resilience, Community-Led We invite you to join us for our third Visioning Charrette, this time centered on the Castellammare / Paseo Miramar neighborhood.  Recovery Partnerships & Planning Update
This week, we celebrated the launch of the Lowe Family YMCA rebuild at Via de la Paz and Simon Meadow—a milestone event that brought together community members, elected officials, and dignitaries for our collective recovery. See photo: PRC Founder with other Lowe Family YMCA board members, all Palisadians.
We also convened with the Office of Councilwoman Traci Park and LADWPto emphasize the importance of anticipating logistics and material needs as DWP plans for its long-term role in the recovery.
In addition, we met with the AECOM team, sharing our comprehensive Recovery Logistics Plan and insights gained from months of on-the-ground leadership. We expressed concern that once the U.S. Army Corps completes debris removal, residents may lose visible signs of progress. To sustain momentum, we stressed the need for  advances in restoration, beautification and rebuilding.
As always, we reminded partners that the scale of rebuilding ahead—thousands of homes and community structures—requires deliberate planning and strategy to avoid foreseeable challenges such as traffic gridlock, rising material costs, and construction delays, and keep the recovery on track.
