PRC Security Briefings:

Safeguarding a Community in Transition

Since April, the Palisades Recovery Coalition (PRC) has been convening regular Security Briefings to address the evolving safety and security landscape of Pacific Palisades in the aftermath of the January 2025 wildfire. Recognizing that recovery is not only about rebuilding homes but also about restoring residents’ sense of safety and trust, PRC established these ongoing coordination calls as a proactive forum for communication and preparedness.

Each briefing brings together key partners — including LAPD, California Highway Patrol, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and other local and regional security agencies (including LAFD Brush Clearance unit) — alongside residents and community leaders. Together, we assess emerging concerns, share updates on active recovery zones, and discuss strategies that anticipate the next phase of the community’s transformation.

Through these briefings, PRC ensures that Palisadians remain informed, connected, and confident in the public-safety infrastructure supporting their recovery. The discussions have evolved from post-fire patrol coordination and debris-hauling oversight to more nuanced planning around construction traffic, vulnerable hillside access, and the needs of returning families.

By keeping a steady pulse on changing conditions — and maintaining open lines of communication with law enforcement and recovery partners — PRC continues to serve as the bridge between agencies and residents, helping to shape a recovery that is not only resilient, but secure.

Leading Community-Driven Conversations, Vision & SolutionsEach week, the Palisades Recovery Coalition continues to prove that recovery is not just about rebuilding structures, but about reimagining our community with resilience, creativity, and purpose. Together, we are showing what it means to turn loss into momentum — through gatherings that connect neighbors, conversations that shape policy, and visioning that lifts our future, PRC is shaping a future that honors what we’ve lost while building what we need for the next hundred years.  Here’s a look at the week’s highlights and what lies ahead.

Insurance Roundtable with State Senator Allen

We are partnering with Senator Allen’s office to host an Insurance Roundtable—bringing the California Insurance Commissioner’s office, the FAIR Plan, and leading private insurers to the table. This is a critical step in ensuring Pacific Palisades remains insurable as we recover and rebuild. The discussion will focus on what resilience features, building techniques, and potential certifications the insurance industry will expect to see in our homes and community moving forward. Our goal is to make sure that as we rebuild stronger, safer, and smarter, homeowners can secure the coverage they need and deserve.

Next Visioning Charrette: Community Resilience, Community-Led

We invite you to join us for our third Visioning Charrette, this time centered on the Castellammare / Paseo Miramar neighborhood. With its stunning views, winding roads, steep slopes, historic bulkheads, and trails leading to the Getty Villa, this neighborhood faces unique challenges—and unique opportunities—as we rebuild together. This session is designed for neighbors who care deeply about the future of this beautiful hillside community and want to help shape a resilient path forward.

This is more than just art; it’s a chance to come together as a community, to express our recovery journey, and to create a living record of resilience through color and expression. This monthly gathering at PRC HQ is a space for creative expression, community connection and healing together.

From advancing resilience planning to security strategy to launching creative spaces for healing, our work is centered on rebuilding Pacific Palisades with strength, foresight, and community spirit.

Recovery Partnerships & Planning Update

This week, we celebrated the launch of the Lowe Family YMCA rebuild at Via de la Paz and Simon Meadow—a milestone event that brought together community members, elected officials, and dignitaries for our collective recovery. See photo: PRC Founder with other Lowe Family YMCA board members, all Palisadians.

We also convened with the Office of Councilwoman Traci Park and LADWP to emphasize the importance of anticipating logistics and material needs as DWP plans for its long-term role in the recovery.

In addition, we met with the AECOM team, sharing our comprehensive Recovery Logistics Plan and insights gained from months of on-the-ground leadership. We expressed concern that once the U.S. Army Corps completes debris removal, residents may lose visible signs of progress. To sustain momentum, we stressed the need for advances in restoration, beautification and rebuilding.

As always, we reminded partners that the scale of rebuilding ahead—thousands of homes and community structures—requires deliberate planning and strategy to avoid foreseeable challenges such as traffic gridlock, rising material costs, and construction delays, and keep the recovery on track.
