Stepping into Year Two
This week marks one year since the Palisades Fire. The commemorative events on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 were an opportunity for remembrance, reflection, and collective resolve. Hundreds of people gathered to look back on a year that brought uncertainty and challenge and to acknowledge the weight of what was lost along the way. It was also a moment to recognize what carried us through.
Over the past year, neighbors, volunteers, faith communities, nonprofits, businesses, and public agencies stepped forward—often side by side—to support one another through recovery. Trust was built and partnerships formed under pressure. What emerged was not a single effort, but a growing tapestry of organizations and individuals committed to lifting this community together. This year, the voice and lived experience of Palisadians will be central to recovery planning—shaping strategy, informing decisions, and grounding recovery in the values of this community.
The road ahead is still complex, but our foundation is strong. What began as response has become collaboration, and collaboration is becoming a durable framework for renewal.

PRC new year toast at our new location: 15233 La Cruz Drive

PRC at KTLA for a morning segment on one year since the Fires, watch here.
As we step into this second year, the Palisades Recovery Coalition is preparing to report back to the community on seven months of Neighborhood Visioning Charrettes.
These conversations—rooted in our collective experience and local knowledge from neighborhood to neighborhood —have helped shape a shared understanding of recovery priorities and long-term rebuilding goals.
We look forward to gathering for our Community Reception at the historic Eames House — a place that survived the fire and stands as a powerful symbol of our historic footprint — to present what we’ve learned, discuss the road ahead, and commit to rebuilding in ways that make us stronger, more resilient, and stay true to the character of our community. Guided working groups, or Community Recovery Labs, will begin in January with purposeful outreach at their core and discussion of important issue and policies at the center. Our goal is to help articulate a plan for the recovery of Pacific Palisades, that is rooted in Palisadian input.

Big Data Week: New Recovery Findings Released by Department of Angels, PPCC, and PRC
This week marked a significant moment of data release across multiple organizations, offering a clearer picture of where our community stands one year on.
In December, the Department of Angels released its LA Fire Recovery Report – One Year Later, documenting ongoing displacement, financial hardship, and mental health impacts among survivors. The findings were presented at a public briefing that included Palisades Recovery Coalition Founder Maryam Zar as a panelist, helping contextualize the data within the lived experience of Palisades residents.

Taken together, these releases reveal an alignment between quantitative research and community-grounded input strengthening the foundation for informed, Palisadian-led recovery and rebuilding decisions. Our aggregated charrette findings mirror both the Department of Angels data and themes emerging from PPCC’s survey results that reinforce consistent patterns around trust in local organizations and the need for long-term, community-centered recovery planning.
